Tickets: $15 ($11 seniors and students / $9 youth (ages 3–17) / free or discounted for Museum members / free for children under 3). In a show of gratitude for saving his son’s life, the king cat showers Haru with gifts – including a large supply of individually wrapped live mice – and decrees that she shall marry the cat prince and come to live in the secret kingdom of cats. Later that day, the King of Cats shows up in a feline motorcade. To her amazement, the cat then gets up on its hind legs, brushes itself off, and thanks her very politely. A young schoolgirl, Haru, is introduced to that feline world when she saves a cat from getting hit by a truck. From Japan’s Studio Ghibli, The Cat Returns conjures an alternate society where cats rule a kingdom, walking upright and speaking like humans. English voice cast: Anne Hathaway, Cary Elwes, Peter Boyle. English-dubbed (Sat) and in Japanese with English subtitles (Sun).
